What is Back Acne and What are Some Back Acne Treatments?
Back acne or “bacne”, as it is commonly called, come in every size and form of acne. It ranges in mild
forms such as whiteheads all the way to serious forms of acne which include cystic acne. It can also consist of blackheads, pimples and
pustules. The age range for people who may be susceptible to “bacne” is from 10 to 40 years of age and beyond.
As far as back acne goes, there is no one culprit that is the cause of it. It seems that back acne begins
happening around puberty when the oil glands begin functioning more rapidly. Androgens, which is a hormone group found in both sexes, get
overactive and in turn this causes the oil glands to make extra oil. The oil glands are located just below the skin’s surface. When
an overabundance of oil is produced, the pores of the skin and the hair follicles become clogged. The clogs further obstruct the way that
dead cells escape from the skin, and these result in the hair follicle becoming clogged with oil and dead cells. This attracts bacteria and
thus results in the formation of acne.
There are some subtle differences between “bacne” and acne that is found elsewhere on the body. Back acne
is not generally caused by genetics as other regular acnes are. It is more than likely caused by a person’s particular body type or by
their personal genetic make up. Food also does not contribute to flare ups of back acne.
Back acne does not have to be limited to a person’s back but can be found on any body part. It may be
caused by some things such as wearing tight clothing or carrying a heavy backpack. It is much easier to treat “bacne” than it is to prevent
it. It is easier to use strong topical treatments on back acne as the skin on the back is much thicker than anywhere else.
In order to treat back acne, a “bacne” regimen can be followed. These products can be found in most of
the drug stores and superstores here in the United Sates. To get started, you will need to get a mild cleanser, have plenty of 2.5% benzoyl
peroxide on hand as well as a good moisturizer. Here are the steps you should take:
1. Gently wash the area with a mild cleaner and let it dry.
2. Apply alphy hydroxyl lotion and wait for that to dry.
3. Generously apply the benzoyl peroxide.
4. Apply the moisturizer if it is needed.
It should be noted that benzoyl peroxide will bleach fabric. If you are going to be using this Regimen on
the back, you will have to wear white.
There are many successful treatments available. If you do a Google search you will be able to find other
successful treatments for back acne.
